CDL Driver Job Duties And Responsibilities

• Responsible for safely transporting refrigerated loads that must be kept under refrigerated conditions.
• Monitors freight throughout the trip.
• Loads and unloads trailer, individually or with assistance, with or without mechanical handling equipment.
• Records hours of service via an electronic log.
• Maintains vehicle interior and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
• Performs visual inspections of assets prior to leaving the facility, throughout the shift and upon return.
• Communicates any vehicle or equipment damage to maintenance before loading via use of an electronic log.
• Utilizes safe driving skills in maneuvering at varying speeds in a variety of situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather, and tight spaces.
• Completes all documentation and data entry associated with inspection reports, work orders, shipping documents and other project notes accurately.
• Communicates any and all accidents and/or incidents immediately.

• Valid CDL A with Hazmat endorsement is required.
• 2+ years of proven experience in commercial truck driving – preferably with Jet/Vac Trucks, Boiler or Reefer trucks.
• Must be able to pass pre‑employment drug test, DOT physical and driver’s license check consistent with company standards and DOT requirements.
• Ability to work overtime and out of town.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and lift, push/pull, carry 50 lbs.
• Ability to enter and work in confined spaces if necessary.
• Skilled at driving and parking large, heavy vehicles.
• Possess great physical stamina and focus during long driving shifts.
• Able to operate electric lift, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.

This is a full‑time, non‑exempt position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, but may include shift work, weekends, evenings, holidays – flexibility is required as job duties demand. Travel may be required based on operational needs.
