About the position
The Medical Materiel Specialist II (MMS II) is responsible for all warehouse support service activities supporting the Navy Medical Readiness Logistic Command’s (NMRLC) Expeditionary Medical System (EXMED) mission. Duties of the MMS include receiving, shipping, storing (stowing), selecting (picking) supply turn‑in (disposal), packing (kitting and stuffing) or unpacking (downloading) and inventory of general or specialized material and equipment. The MMS will utilize the Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS) database, or Hospital Information Management System (HIMS) database, or other DoD authorized systems to accurately account for and process the Table of Allowances (TOA) which are sometimes also referred to as Authorized Medical Allowance Lists (AMALs) or Authorized Dental Allowance Lists (ADALs) which comprise EXMEDS.
The position requires a detail‑oriented and highly proficient individual that can adhere to published standards and guidance directed in local Standard Operating Procedures, Navy guidelines, and Department of Defense publications.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Be proficient in the use of the DMLSS, HIMS or other authorized database of record for routine processes.
- Provide warehouse support pertaining to warehouse logistics. The duties will include receiving, shipping, storing (stowing), selecting (picking) supply turn‑in (disposal), packing (kitting and stuffing) or unpacking (downloading) and inventory of general or specialized material and equipment.
- Perform inventory and documentation of supply stock utilizing DMLSS or other military database of record. Make adjustments to stock levels as directed and support excess or unserviceable material disposal processes.
- Review, stock, and re‑supply medical logistics items. This will include removing and replacing all outdated or expired items from shelves or kitted EXMEDS.
- Perform quality control on transaction records and file documents appropriately and promptly.
- Research quality assurance messages utilizing DMLSS, or other military database of record.
- Review a wide variety of documents to ensure that the proper information has been included. Obtain missing information from supporting documents, supervisor, or specialist/analyst and resolve inconsistencies or discrepancies, deviations from general rules, or major omissions.
- Perform receiving duties to include but not limited to receiving, unloading, and processing incoming shipments. Checks accompanying documentation against containers or packing labels. Follows established procedures in reporting over, short, or damaged items. Opens container and removes dunnage and other packing materials. Segregates material according to material type (i.e., equipment, consumable, narcotic, pilferable item, HAZMAT, etc.). Based on information in automated system, it generates labels and routes and/or moves material to staging areas or stow locations.
- Perform inventory control work, supporting a broad range of duties required to accomplish the mission of a large production, sustainment, and distribution center.
