About the Position

The Medical Materiel Specialist (MMS) supports the Navy Medical Readiness Logistic Command’s Expeditionary Medical System mission. The MMS handles receiving, shipping, storing, picking, disposing, kitting, dowloading, and inventory of general and specialized material and equipment using the DMLSS, HIMS or other authorized records system.

Duties / Responsibilities
  • Be proficient in the use of DMLSS, HIMS or other authorized database for routine processes.
  • Provide warehouse support for logistics, including receiving, shipping, storing, picking, disposing, kitting, dowloading and inventorying general or specialized material and equipment.
  • Perform inventory and documentation of supply stock using DMLSS or other military database. Make adjustments to stock levels and support disposal of excess or unserviceable materials.
  • Review, stock and re‑supply medical logistics items, removing outdated or expired items from shelves or kitted EXMEDS.
  • Perform quality control on transaction records and file documents promptly and appropriately.
  • Research quality assurance messages using DMLSS or another military database of record.
  • Review a wide variety of documents to ensure proper information is included, obtain missing information, and resolve inconsistencies or discrepancies.
  • Perform receiving duties, including unloading and processing incoming shipments, checking documentation against containers or labels, reporting over, short, or damaged items, opening containers, removing dunnage, segregating material by type (equipment, consumable, narcotic, pilferable, HAZMAT, etc.).
  • Generate labels and route or move material to staging areas or stow locations based on automated system information.
  • Perform inventory control work, supporting a broad range of duties such as counting items during annual inventories, location surveys, physical inventory, material handling, examining, identifying, packing, operating MHE, and analyzing inventory data.
  • Stow material on platform, following government-provided equipment and assignments, to facilitate rapid deployment.
  • Perform Pick, Pack, Preserve, and Crate (PPP&C) tasks, packing and repacking items for kitting and shipping of EXMEDS with a variety of standard packing materials and techniques.
  • Perform administrative duties such as word processing, data entry, correcting errors, and maintaining electronic documents or files in predefined spreadsheets or databases.
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness and aesthetics, and be responsible for assigned sections of the warehouse.
Required Skills / Abilities
  • Specialized experience in general supply activities, ordering, receiving, customer support, inventory management, assemblage management, warehousing, and operation of materials handling equipment.
  • Maintain certification in daily operation of warehouse equipment, including forklifts, side lifts, cherry pickers, etc.
  • Wear personal protective equipment during duty (steel-toed shoes, hard hat, hearing protection, etc.).
  • Experience in using and running transactions in the DMLSS or other medical materiel information system(s).
  • Work in austere work environments.
  • Walk, stand, reach, bend, and move items as required.
  • Lift and carry weights over 40 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in logistics or medical warehouse operations.
  • Current valid driver's license.
  • Ability to understand, read, and write in English.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
