Position Summary

Under minimal supervision, the Medical Materials Manager directs and manages all warehouse support service activities supporting the Navy Medical Readiness Logistic Command’s (NMRLC) Expeditionary Medical System (EXMED) mission. Tasks include receiving, shipping, storing, selecting, packing, unpacking, and inventory of general or specialized material and equipment. The Manager will use the Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS), Hospital Information Management System (HIMS), or other DoD‑authorized system to account for and process the Table of Allowances (TOA) or Authorized Medical Allowance Lists (AMALs) and Authorized Dental Allowance Lists (ADALs) that comprise EXMEDs.

  • Provide oversight and direction to ensure the successful execution of specific warehouse areas.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain open communication with leadership and clients to proactively address challenges.
  • Supervise staff, ensuring a competent and motivated team through hiring, training, counseling, and performance reviews.
  • Be proficient in using DMLSS, HIMS, or another authorized database for routine processes.
  • Coordinate, direct, and manage warehouse logistics support.
  • Perform inventory and documentation of supply stock using DMLSS or other military databases; adjust stock levels and support disposal processes.
  • Review and resupply medical logistics items, removing outdated or expired items from shelves or kitted EXMEDs.
  • Perform quality control on transaction records and file documents promptly.
  • Research quality assurance messages using DMLSS or other military databases.
  • Review documents to ensure proper information, obtain missing details, and resolve discrepancies or major omissions.
  • Perform receiving duties: unloading and processing incoming shipments, verifying documentation, reporting damaged or short items, separating material by type, and generating labels and routing.
  • Manage inventory control work, including counting, surveys, physical inventories, material handling, and evaluating command inventory.
  • Stow material on platform and prepare for rapid deployment.
  • Perform Pick, Pack, Preserve, and Crate (PPP&C) activities to kit and ship EXMEDS.
  • Handle administrative duties: word processing, data entry, error correction, and electronic document management.
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness and aesthetics.
  • Apply specialized experience in supply activities, ordering, customer support, inventory management, assemblage management, and operation of materials handling equipment.
  • Execute other duties and special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics or medical warehouse operations.
  • Three or more years in a supervisory position (five years preferred).
  • Ability to learn specialized software related to departmental operations.
  • Fluent reading and writing in English.
  • Detail‑oriented and highly proficient in adhering to published standards and guidance.
  • Human relations skills to build effective relationships with team and internal customers.
  • Customer service skills to respond to inquiries and requests.
  • Organizational, problem‑solving, and common‑sense skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Communication skills to provide procedural information and answer questions from customers, employees, and others.
Education Requirements

High School Diploma or GED

Certificates or Licenses Required
  • CAT Card Clearance
  • Forklift Certification
  • Valid Driver’s License
Physical Requirements
  • Work at an accelerated pace under emergencies or operations demands.
  • Walking, standing, reaching, bending, and moving items.
  • Ability to lift and carry weight over 45 pounds.
  • Work performed on hard surfaces.
  • Fast‑paced environment.
Work Environment

The work is performed in an austere warehouse environment, possibly requiring movement to nearby warehouses. Warehouse equipment is available. Personal Protective Equipment such as steel‑toe shoes, hard hat, hearing protection, glasses, and gloves is required. Employees may work beyond 8 hours a day or 40 hours a week.
