Description

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Production, this position is responsible for the creation, improvement, maintenance, and execution of the training and skill development programs within the production environment. The position also includes ongoing leadership for team members assigned or operating in a training capacity. In support of the overall production leadership needs, this position may also cover front line support for production flow and processes, providing direction to production employees in efficiently meeting production schedules and goals.

  • Create training curriculum and implementation strategies for improved onboarding, cross-training, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Develop effective work instructions and documentation for production operators.
  • Establish and maintain a standard process for onboarding, ongoing, and spot training for production team members.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and modify curriculum, documentation, and/or processes to build or maintain high-quality training standards.
  • Communicate with Production leadership to include updates on the overall training program, feedback on trainers, and any other applicable information.
  • Respond to questions regarding daily work procedures, provide training and assign work in a manner which maximizes production output.
  • Metrics and workflow improvement responsibility.
  • Resolve issues and solve problems impeding production flow and/or seek improvements in processes to improve efficiency of operations.
  • Ensure that appropriate resources and supplies are procured and available to support operations.
  • Process components and perform production tasks as needed to ensure completion of orders.
  • Maintain a positive department attitude.
  • Alert management of policy infractions or other issues that may need to be addressed.
  • Report and maintain LDR statistics.
  • Responsible to perform other duties of equal or lesser classification irrespective of required change in department, hours (including mandatory overtime) or work conditions as directed by supervisor.
  • Encourage and maintain safe, clean and organized work areas.
  • Cross training and substitution of tasks that may be of higher classification as required by supervision.
  • Participate in cross functional teams to manage and provide processing input for cross functional productivity, efficiency and quality standards.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma and/or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a production operation and/or capable of performing at an advanced proficiency level of competence within Brodart production standards of efficiency and skill.
  • PC Proficiency and familiarity with Microsoft office suite (word, excel); ability to work under the pressure of deadlines and prioritize work assignments.
  • Process driven, utilize and analyze data to evaluate, improve processes and present to management as required.
  • Provide vision to subordinates that are consistent with strategic initiatives to improve processes and grow the business.
  • Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines and prioritized work assignments.
  • Effective communication with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and responsibilities with requisite skill in prioritizing to meet deadlines as necessary.
  • Flexible to make appropriate decisions regarding safety in handling materials and responsive to changing work environments.
  • Ability to work/communicate effectively and respectfully with subordinates and management and support Brodart rules, policies and standards of conduct.
  • Must be able to work in a production environment that may be subject to varied temperatures and other conditions, such as noise (conveyor), dust and glue or adhesives.
  • Close and distant vision, using hands and fingers to handle and feel, talk and hear, sitting, occasionally lifting up to 25 lbs. frequently and pushing book trucks weighing several hundred pounds. Standing and walking.
  • This position is subject to scheduled overtime, which may be required based on production needs.
