Job SummaryA Hospital in Willimantic, CT is seeking a skilled Telemetry RN for a 12-week night shift assignment. This role requires a clinician comfortable with a mix of medical-surgical and telemetry patients. You will be responsible for continuous cardiac monitoring, managing acute care needs, and ensuring patient safety in a community hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities- Cardiac Monitoring: Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms for telemetry-assigned patients, identifying and responding to arrhythmias or changes in status.
- Acute Patient Care: Manage a diverse patient load including those recovering from orthopedic surgeries or recovering from acute stroke.
- Assessment & Documentation: Perform comprehensive head-to-toe assessments and maintain accurate electronic records using the Epic EMR system.
- Care Coordination: Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to implement care plans and facilitate patient discharge or transfer.
- Specialized Protocols: Adhere to stroke-specific nursing protocols and orthopedic post-operative care standards.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of acute care experience.
- Licensure: Valid Connecticut State RN License or a valid Multi-State Compact License .
- Certifications: * BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
- Preferred Experience:
* Stroke care experience.- Orthopedic nursing experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Epic EMR is required.
- Schedule: 36 hours per week guaranteed.
- Shift Times: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM.
- On-Call: No on-call requirement for this position.
- Environment: Windham Hospital is a community-based hospital providing a high level of personalized care within a larger healthcare system network.
- Location: 112 Mansfield Ave, Willimantic, CT 06226.
Stroke Assessment
Given the preference for stroke experience, proficiency in the NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) is highly valued in this unit. Rapid identification of neurological changes is critical for Telemetry patients who may be at risk for secondary events.
