Histotechnician (HT) - Per Diem
Prepares and processes tissue samples for routine and complex histologic techniques to be examined under a microscope by a pathologist. The histologic techniques include the following: fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining (H&E and Special Stains) of human tissue for evaluation. This includes complex histologic techniques such as enzyme histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, in-situ hybridization, cryotomy, immunofluorescence, and tissue microarray.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalency AND successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program.
- OR 60 semester hours of academic credit from an accredited college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours in biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both), OR an associate degree from an accredited college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours in biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both), which may be obtained within, or in addition to, the associate degree AND one year of full time acceptable clinical experience
- At least 1 year of clinical histology experience
- HT Certification [ASCP equivalent]
- Effective communication of English language
- Proficiency in HHC Computer systems i.e. EPIC, Sun Quest, CoPath preferred but not required
- Ability to provide excellent customer service skills and exhibit a professional attitude
