We are seeking a proactive and experienced Safety Specialist to support field operations and ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards across project sites in North Dakota. This individual will play a critical role in promoting a strong safety culture, conducting field inspections, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting incident prevention initiatives in fast-paced industrial and construction environments.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on safety professional who thrives in field-based operations and is passionate about driving operational excellence through safe work practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all project sites and field operations
- Conduct routine field audits, safety inspections, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs/JSAs) to identify and mitigate workplace risks
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and client-specific safety requirements
- Lead daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, orientations, and training sessions for employees and contractors
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns; prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective actions
- Maintain accurate safety documentation including inspections, permits, training records, and compliance reports
- Support emergency response planning and ensure site readiness for emergency situations
- Collaborate with operations, project management, and subcontractors to continuously improve safety performance
- Monitor PPE compliance and safe work practices, including confined space entry, lockout/tagout (LOTO), hot work, fall protection, and excavation activities
- Serve as a visible safety leader and resource for field personnel
Qualifications
- 3+ years of safety experience in industrial, construction, energy, oil & gas, utilities, manufacturing, or related environments
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry safety best practices
- Experience conducting safety audits, incident investigations, and employee training
- Ability to work in active field environments and travel to project sites as needed
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence safe behaviors at all levels of an organization
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety reporting systems
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 30 Certification required (OSHA 500/510 preferred)
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred
- CHST, ASP, CSP, or other professional safety certifications are a plus
- Experience supporting renewable energy, oil & gas, heavy industrial, or large-scale construction projects preferred
- Primarily field-based role with exposure to outdoor weather conditions common in North Dakota
- May require extended hours, rotational schedules, or overtime depending on project demands
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and navigate active industrial and construction sites safely
