NDDOT Hiring Salary Transportation Engineer I: $5,403 / month
SkillsAt the North Dakota Department of Transportation, we owe our success to our people and processes. As a Transportation Engineer in our Williston District, you will manage small and medium construction projects and be the main inspector on large projects. The ideal person for this position will be a problem solver with excellent communication skills and attention to detail. Previous experience in preparing environmental documents and construction plans is a plus.
Primary duties associated with this position are:
In this role, you will manage construction projects, monitor contractor operations and assure project is built according to the plans and specs. You will also be responsible for designing projects and preparing plan documents for district designed projects.
Other duties include large project inspection, filling in for project engineer in their absence, bridge inspections, preliminary surveys, bridge deck evaluations, construction survey, and materials testing, as well as other miscellaneous job duties.

Minimum Qualifications Transportation Engineer III- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or other applicable engineering degree
- Four years of professional-level engineering work experience
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam as specified by the Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors
- Requires a class D driver's license for travel to meetings and project locations
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or other applicable engineering degree
- Two years of professional-level engineering work experience
- Eligibility to write the Fundamentals of Engineering exam as specified by the Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors
