General Summary
Commercial Loan Officer will work under the direction of the Chief Lending Officer to examine, evaluate, and recommend approval of customer applications for commercial credit loans. The Commercial Loan Officer shall be responsible for servicing the bank’s existing commercial loan portfolio as well as generating new commercial loan business for the bank.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Primarily processes commercial credit loansInterviews applicants and requests specific information for loan applicationsRequests applicant’s credit reports, background checks, reference checks, and other information pertinent to loan applicant’s evaluationCalls or writes credit bureau and employer to verify accuracy of informationAnalyzes applicant’s financial status, credit, and property evaluation to determine feasibility of granting loan or submits application to credit analyst for verification and recommendationCorresponds with or interviews applicants to resolve questions regarding application informationCalls specified companies to obtain property abstract, survey, and appraisalEnsures all title issues are met and that loan is property recordedReviews and analyzes title report or survey to determine issues and any present or potential riskNotifies customers of approval or prepares adverse action form for loan processor to complete and mail outApproves loans within specified limits or refers loan to loan committee for approvalCompiles loan package and facilitates negotiation of loan structure with applicants, including fees, loan repayment options, and other credit termsEnsures loan agreements and loan files are complete and accurate according to loan policyAssures timely loan closing and funding activities
Assists customer in completing all required documentation and disclosuresEnsures customer understands conditions and terms of accountReviews delinquent account records to determine appropriate actionAnalyzes potential loan markets to develop prospects for loansResponds to customer inquiries including payment questions, payoffs, and loan valuesOriginates loan correspondenceMaintains proper correspondence and legal filesExplains, promotes, and cross sells other bank products and servicesParticipates in bank’s loan committee meeting and other committee meetings as assignedOther duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisorType of Position
This is a full-time position with hours and days of work 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or three years’ experience in related field
- Highly motivated self-starter with sales skills to promote bank products
- Proficient in Excel & Microsoft Word
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
Travel Requirements
Travel will be required with this position from time to time. Customer calls to existing customers or prospective customers may require travel outside of the Williston area. Additional training may also require travel. Bank provides company vehicle for required travel or mileage reimbursement.
