Key Business ObjectivesThe Area Service Manager oversees 8‑12 field technicians and 1‑2 lead technicians, daily managing up to 100,000 hp. The role is front‑line, investing in the development of staff, budgeting, cost control, and resource allocation. Travel is required up to 75% of the time.
Responsibilities- Ensure safety compliance and service standards.
- Provide first‑line support for troubleshooting.
- Hire, coach, motivate, and manage compensation and performance.
- Follow company policies and procedures.
- Maintain field‑level customer relationships and proactive communication.
- Monitor fleet costs and meet company targets.
- Coordinate service technician activities.
- Advise Operations Director on major repairs.
- Maintain service levels by managing run‑time and meeting contractual agreements.
- Ensure scheduled and non‑scheduled maintenance is completed timely.
- Maintain company vehicle per guidelines.
- Recommend capital expenditures for field equipment.
- Act as liaison to external vendors as needed.
- Collaborate with sales to identify opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Full‑time salary position. The position may be structured to support a local schedule or a rotational assignment based on operational requirements.
Qualifications & Education- College degree preferred; at least 5 years of field experience in gas compression.
- Ability to configure gas compression equipment.
- Capable of extended hours and driving a commercial‑size truck.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor‑vehicle record.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal skills.
- Interest in developing people and business management skills.
- Excellent customer service with field personnel, vendors, and employees.
- Ability to teach technical and soft skills to FSTs.
- Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Internet, and inventory tracking software.
- High mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to understand written and verbal company instructions.
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Travel up to 75% of time.
- Periodic lifting >50 lbs.
- Stand, walk, climb ladders, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl.
- Exposed to extremes of temperature and weather.
- Some exposure to noise >85 dBA (ear protection).
- Potential exposure to hazardous chemicals and materials.
- Work varies indoor/outdoor, compressor station or site.
- Strong emphasis on safety with heavy equipment.
