Role Overview
This is a seasonal position; you can use your winters off to travel, hunt, fish or for other activities you enjoy while your benefits continue year-round
.
This position is responsible for safely operating a heavy rolling machine to compact earth, subgrade, or bituminous surface to grade specifications per contract. It will need to display a professional and courteous attitude with customers and team members.
The typical schedule is Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM with one to two Saturdays per month, 7:00 AM - 2:00 PM.
Duties and/or Responsibilities- Perform daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly

- Identify appropriate rolling pattern and drives machine in successive overlapping passes over surface to be compacted to prepare quality surface.
- Determine speed and direction of machine, based on knowledge of compressibility of material under changing temperatures, so that ridges are not formed by excessive
- Assist laborer or roller operator with dumping trucks and keeping load counts
- Help clean curb and gutter areas
- Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with people under high stress situations. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others.
- Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.). Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
- Ensure OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation
- Assist in loading and unloading equipment for transport, including load
- Performs other duties as assigned.

As a Successful Roller Operator You Will Have- Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure, medical card and acceptable driving record.
- 2+ years equipment operation and maintenance (Roller) preferred.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime and some Saturdays.
