# of L&D Beds: 15 total- 7 L&D, 8 Postpartum

Do you follow AWHONN guidelines for ratios?: 1:1 for pit, mag, or insulin drips. 1:3 couplet care.

Common diagnoses/Types of patients:
Mix. Mainly obstetric/neonates, hypertension, GDM, try not to deliver anyone less than 36 weeks

Experience or 'Must have' skills: able to read and interpret fetal strips, critical thinking, follow quality metrics, previous travel experience, must be able to read strips - will float to Medsurg & ER as needed

Are RNs required to titrate drips?:
Yes

Common titratable &/or set rate drips: pitocin, insulin, magnesium

Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift?:
Yes

Does the charge nurse on shift take an assignment?: yes

Are there nurse aids/surgical techs on this unit? Duties?: yes, CNA, vitals, help with transfer paperwork, remain at desk when needed due to being a locked unit, help turn, ambulate patients

OB/Neonatologist in house 24/7?: no

Anesthesia in house 24/7?: no

RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.): yes

Are RNs required to do anything with RT Equipment besides trouble shoot?:no

Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit?: no

Are RNs required to read their own strips?: yes

- Medsurg, ER. wherever in the hospital the nurse is needed

Scrub Color/Dress code: scrub color is maroon, scrubs are provided and RN will change once on the unit into our surgical scrubs

How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 3 shifts

Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with Common Spirit, including CHI and/or Dignity within the past 12 months RTO needed upfront
- Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
