American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery/LDRP position requiring Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification and the ability to float within skillset.
Details- Acute care LDRP unit in a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) setting with 15 total beds (7 L&D, 8 Postpartum)
- One OR suite on the unit for C-sections
- Approximately 58 births per month
- Mix of obstetric and neonatal patients including hypertension and GDM, generally not delivering under 36 weeks gestation
- Follows AWHONN guidelines with 1:1 ratios for pitocin, magnesium, or insulin drips and 1:3 couplet care
- RNs titrate drips including pitocin, insulin, and magnesium
- Charge nurse present each shift and typically takes a patient assignment
- CNAs support the unit with vitals, transfers, and patient mobility
- RT equipment available (vents, CPAP, BiPap, high flow) though RNs are not required to manage beyond troubleshooting
- Philips telemetry monitors used with Traceview/PIP EFM system
- MEDITECH EMR used
- 12-hour day shifts , ) with no self-scheduling, though block scheduling is allowed
- Call/standby requirements depend on staffing needs
- Every third weekend and every other holiday required
- Floating required to Medsurg, ER, and other hospital departments as needed, with permanent staff typically floating first
- Active RN license (ND state or Compact/NLC) currently in hand
- Active BLS certification required
- Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification required
- ACLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Must be able to read and interpret fetal strips independently
- Strong critical thinking skills and ability to follow quality metrics
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
- Provide direct patient care in a locked LDRP unit, remaining at the desk when needed for security purposes
- Read and interpret own fetal strips as part of daily responsibilities
- Change into unit-provided maroon surgical scrubs upon arrival
- Unit-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts
- Successful nurses on this unit are adaptable to change, strong critical thinkers, and effective communicators
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past 12 months; PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
- RTO must be submitted upfront, as additional time off requests will not be approved after submission
