The Weed Control Foreman leads seasonal staff and participates in chemical spraying to control and eradicate identified noxious weeds from public and private land. This is a seasonal position, averaging 40 hours per week. Work is typically available from May until October. Work is generally performed on weekdays, but some weekends may be required depending on weather conditions.

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents in this position. - Leads assigned staff in completing daily work
- Maintains communication with the Weed Control Officer, including providing regular job status updates
- Ensures all safety protocol is followed
- Acts as a resource to Weed Control Field Aides and troubleshoots routine issues
- Applies chemicals to control and eradicate noxious weeds; selects and mixes chemicals, calculates rates and coverage, calibrates spray system, and operates chemical spray equipment
- Operates motorized equipment, including ATV/UTV and truck, to travel to weed-infested areas and survey areas for weeds
- Utilizes GPS equipment to map weed-infested and/or treated areas
- Maintains and repairs tools and equipment
- Completes daily logs, records, and maps; maintains supplies inventory
- Maintains confidentiality of non-public records and makes available all data and information deemed a public record by the North Dakota Century Code.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent; AND one (1) year of experience as a Weed Control Field Aide or equivalent
- Must possess a valid North Dakota Driver’s License
- Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
- Specific technical training and certification may be required. Employees will be provided with guidance on obtaining such certifications.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an outdoor environment with exposure to extreme temperatures
- Exposure to pressurized chemical vapors
- May be required to lift up to 50 pounds
Compensation for this position starts at $25.50/hour and may vary depending on experience and training.
