Key Responsibilities
  • Primary contact for customers, delivering friendly, courteous and helpful service.
  • Hold accountability for department results in service quality, sales, gains and cost containment.
  • Supervise Starbucks Clerks, oversee training and compliance with Safeway and Starbucks corporate policies.
  • Write staff schedules, place orders and manage inventory.
  • Operate coffee and beverage equipment (urns, drip or vacuum makers, teapots, mixers, espresso machines).
  • Perform beverage preparation, equipment cleaning, product rotation, and temperature log maintenance.
  • Operate electronic cash register, process payments and provide correct change.
  • Maintain cleanliness of coffee service area, displays, and trash removal.
  • Conduct temperature checks, set up displays, replenish stock, and perform audit compliance.
  • Ensure a safe and clean work environment and perform basic cash‑office functions.
  • Execute additional duties as directed.
Qualifications
  • Prior customer-service experience or related background.
  • Ability to follow procedures, make decisions and work independently.
  • Strong communication skills in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Ability to multitask, concentrate, and handle working under stress and time constraints.
  • Ability to work varied shifts as part of a 24-hour operation.
  • Knowledge of coffee and tea drink preparation, drink formulae, PLU codes.
  • Knowledge of shrink programs and audit procedures.
  • Must pass required food safety test(s).
  • Desired:
    Previous management experience; prior Starbucks Clerk experience.
