Due to growth, we are currently looking to hire a Working Lead Diesel Technician in the Williston area. The Working Lead Technician is responsible for leading daily shop operations while actively performing diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, and inspections on construction, agricultural, or heavy equipment. This position combines hands‑on mechanical work with team leadership, mentoring technicians, ensuring quality repairs, maintaining safety standards, and supporting customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy equipment, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and drive trains.
- Lead and assist shop technicians with daily workflow, repair priorities, and technical support.
- Assign jobs and monitor repair progress to ensure timely completion.
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards and manufacturer specifications are met.
- Communicate with service advisors, parts department, and management regarding repair status, parts needs, and job completion timelines.
- Mentor and train technicians and apprentices on repair procedures, safety practices, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Maintain accurate service documentation, work orders, and labor reporting.
- Ensure shop cleanliness, organization, and compliance with all safety regulations.
- Operate equipment and vehicles safely during testing and inspections.
- Assist with field service support when required.
- Support dealership goals related to productivity, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
- 5+ years of experience repairing heavy equipment, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, or diesel‑powered machinery.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Diesel engines
- Hydraulic systems
- Electrical and electronic controls
- Powertrain and drivetrain systems
- Preventive maintenance practices
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic software.
- Experience with OEM diagnostic tools and computer‑based troubleshooting systems.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in shop and field environments.
- OEM equipment certifications
- ASE Diesel Certifications
- CDL License
- Welding or fabrication experience
MSHA certification

- Competitive Pay based on Prior Experience and Demonstrable Knowledge. $30.00 - $50.00 per hour.

Applicant must have an insurable driving record, a current medical card or be able to obtain one. CDL is preferred. Applicant must also be able to pass a drug screening and background check.
