Role DescriptionThe Overhead/Walk Door Technician - Apprentice/Entry Level role is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Williston, ND. In this role, the technician assists with the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead and walk doors for commercial, industrial, and residential customers. Daily tasks include learning to measure and prepare openings, assemble door components, use hand and power tools safely, and support senior technicians during service calls.
The technician helps load and unload materials, maintain a clean and organized work area, and follow company safety procedures. The role also involves communicating professionally with customers and team members, completing basic documentation of work performed, and participating in ongoing training to develop technical skills.
- Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools, with strong mechanical aptitude.
- Capacity to follow technical instructions, learn installation procedures, and apply problem‑solving skills on the job.
- Commitment to workplace safety, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to company safety protocols.
- Reliable work habits, including punctuality, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic math and measurement skills for reading a tape measure, interpreting simple drawings, and preparing materials.
- Good communication skills for interacting with customers, supervisors, and coworkers in a professional manner.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions, stand for extended periods, and lift moderate to heavy materials as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record preferred for travel to job sites.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; prior experience in construction, trades, or maintenance is a plus but not required.
