- Diagnose and repair engine and compressor failures with minimal supervision, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability.
- Perform accurate rebuilds and overhauls of compressors, engines, and controls on gas compressor packages in the field under various conditions.
- Conduct engine tuning functions to optimize performance and emissions align with OEM specifications—particularly on CAT and Cummins engines.
- Assist with the installation, commissioning, and start-up of new units, providing on-site expertise.
- Use precision tools such as micrometers, pressure gauges, and electronic diagnostic equipment to perform mechanical inspections.
- Respond promptly to emergency repairs, providing top-tier service under tight schedules and travel demands.
- Maintain thorough documentation, including field service reports, expense reports, and timesheets, with professionalism and accuracy.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies, ensuring safe operations at all times.
- Minimum of 6+ years applicable experience in compressor and engine repair.
- Proven ability to independently diagnose and repair compressor failures efficiently.
- Expertise with Vapor Recovery Units (VRU).
- Extensive knowledge of 3600 and 3500 CAT (aerials), with a strong understanding of models 3616 and 3516 compressors.
- Experience servicing Sullair air compressors is a plus.
- Strong mechanical inspection skills using diagnostic tools and specialty equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in adverse conditions.
- Willingness to travel extensively across multiple states, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Experience with engine tuning for emissions and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with emergency and recurring repair scenarios.
- Previous experience in field installation and commissioning.
- High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training preferred.
- 6+ years of relevant industry experience, particularly in midstream energy operations.
- Ability to participate in a call-out rotation for emergency repairs.
- Valid certifications related to mechanical inspections and safety policies are advantageous.
- Must comply with all health, safety, and environmental regulations relevant to each work location.
