Dispatcher
Dispatches trucks to service assignments and relays communications to crews and other field personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Receives telephone requests for services from customers and relays information to crews and field personnel.
- Dispatches drivers/crews to servicing assignments.
- Assigns vehicles based on factors such as length and purpose of trip, freight or other requirements, and customer preference.
- Issues keys, record sheets, and credentials to drivers.
- Records time of departure, destination, cargo, and expected time of return.
- Follows up with drivers and crew to ensure timely arrival and investigates overdue vehicles.
- Directs driver activities by two‑way radio.
- Confirms with customers to expedite or locate missing, mis‑routed, delayed, or other issues.
- Maintains records of mileage, fuel used, repairs made, and other expenses.
- Establishes service or delivery routes.
- Prepares time reports and other records.
- Computes quantities of materials required and quotes prices for services.
- Refers customer inquiries regarding production problems or available services to sales personnel.
- Compiles list of available vehicles.
- Issues equipment to drivers.
- Assigns helpers to drivers.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree from a four‑year college or university; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have 2–3 years of experience as a dispatcher.
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
- Proficiency with addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios, percentages, and interpretation of bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Certificates, Licenses, Registration
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving history.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Successful completion of pre‑employment drug test, background check, physical, criminal history check, and vehicle record review.
Physical Demands
- Occasional standing, walking, sitting, and use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms; talking or hearing.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- Noise level usually moderate.
Compensation
Salary: $55,000 – $80,000 yearly.
