As an Accountant at the GS-11 level, you will perform professional accounting responsibilities in accordance with DHS/ICE guidelines, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, achieving financial objectives, and supporting the agency’s financial operations.
Responsibilities- Carry out professional accounting responsibilities in accordance with DHS/ICE guidelines.
- Perform activities that enable the agency to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
- Take action to achieve organizational financial and accounting objectives.
- Assist in determining the propriety of accounting transactions from federal funds.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must successfully pass a background investigation.
- Must successfully pass a drug screen.
- Males born after 12/31/59 must certify registration with Selective Service.
- Must meet all requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
This is a full‑time permanent position. Upon appointment, you may be required to serve a one‑year probationary period.
QualificationsDegree in accounting or a related field (e.g., business administration, finance, public administration) with at least 24 semester hours in accounting, including up to 6 hours of business law, or equivalent. Alternatively, at least four years of experience in accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A certified public accountant or certified internal auditor designation is preferred.
For GS‑11 qualification, you must possess one year of specialized experience at the GS‑9 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:
- Carrying out accounting activities in accordance with agency guidelines.
- Enabling the agency to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Supporting organizational financial and accounting objectives.
- Assisting in determining the propriety of accounting transactions from federal funds.
- Maintaining business processes for effective management control.
- Gathering, analyzing, and compiling data for financial services.
- Ensuring accurate, concise, and timely information for management.
- Providing technical assistance and support to senior analysts on accounting and budgetary issues.
