You'll partner closely with hospital leadership to cultivate a positive employee experience, guide organizational growth, and ensure our hospitals remain places where talented veterinary professionals choose to build long-term careers. Your work will directly influence employee engagement, leadership development, retention, and the overall success of our hospitals as we continue to grow.
You'll be supporting:
- Capital District Veterinary Referral Hospital – Latham, NY
- Peak Veterinary Referral Center – Williston, VT
- Small Animal Veterinary Emergency Services – Lebanon, NH
Together, these hospitals provide advanced emergency and specialty care while sharing a common commitment to compassion, collaboration, continuous learning, and excellence in patient care.
About the RoleAs the Human Resources Manager, you'll serve as a trusted advisor to hospital leadership and employees across three locations. You'll balance strategic partnership with hands-on HR support, helping leaders navigate employee relations, help develop high-performing teams, maintain regulatory compliance, and foster an engaging workplace culture.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, solving complex people challenges, coaching leaders, and creating environments where veterinary professionals can thrive.
This position is primarily based in Latham, NY, with monthly travel to our hospitals in Williston, VT and Lebanon, NH.
What You'll DoPartner with Leaders
Coach managers on employee relations, performance management, conflict resolution, and leadership best practices.
Support talent planning, succession planning, and workforce development.
Help leaders build engaged, accountable, high-performing teams.
Champion Employee Experience
- Foster an inclusive, collaborative workplace culture.
- Lead employee engagement initiatives and recognition programs.
- Support onboarding and orientation to ensure new team members feel welcomed and connected.
Ensure HR Excellence
- Provide guidance on HR policies, employment practices, and compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Manage employee relations matters with professionalism, consistency, and empathy.
- Support leave administration, ADA accommodations, I-9 compliance, and other employment requirements.
Develop People
- Partner with stakeholders to deliver learning and development opportunities.
- Support leadership development initiatives.
- Use workforce metrics to help identify opportunities for organizational growth and employee retention.
Support the Employee Lifecycle
- Coordinate onboarding, transitions, and offboarding.
- Partner with hospital leadership and the People Team to ensure consistent HR practices across all three hospitals.
We're looking for an HR professional who is equally comfortable coaching leaders, navigating complex employee situations, and building strong workplace relationships.
Qualifications include:
- Five or more years of progressive Human Resources experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience) PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred
- Strong employee relations experience
- Knowledge of federal and state employment laws
- Experience developing HR programs and training initiatives
