Veterinary Technician Lead, Surgery
PEAK Veterinary Referral Center is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician Lead, Surgery to support our specialty Surgery service in Williston, VT. This full-time, hands-on Veterinary Technician leadership role is ideal for someone who enjoys advanced medicine, mentorship, and taking ownership of the daily workflow while remaining actively involved on the hospital floor.
Compensation: $25–$34/hour, based on experience and skills

Schedule:
- Full-Time
- Four 10-hour shifts, Weekday schedule
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the daily surgical plan, including case order, operating room assignments, and Veterinary Technician coverage.
- Actively manage surgery workflow and address challenges before they disrupt patient care or the daily schedule.
- Serve as a reliable point person for surgeons, remaining available on the hospital floor to support real-time workflow and patient care needs.
- Support and mentor Veterinary Technicians while leading by example and promoting consistent standards of care.
- Navigate complex medical and financial conversations, oversee advanced estimates, and guide clients through sensitive situations with clarity and compassion.
- Manage surgical equipment and implant logistics, including troubleshooting equipment issues, coordinating urgent and specialty implant orders, and tracking and returning surgical implants, including total hips.
- Proactively monitor future bookings to identify scheduling conflicts or inappropriate case placement.
- Monitor the Surgery team inbox and Chewy portal to help ensure timely communication and follow-through.
- Collaborate with Surgery team members to support advanced specialty medicine, anesthesia, patient care, and an efficient surgical service.
- Promote a positive, respectful, and supportive animal hospital culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and quality medicine.

This is not a management position and does not involve attending management meetings or handling disciplinary actions.
Qualifications:
- Experienced Veterinary Technician with strong technical skills and confidence working in a specialty or surgical environment.
- CVT, LVT, RVT, or VTS credentials are a plus but are not required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and clients.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative veterinary team.
- Comfortable leading by example, mentoring Vet Tech team members, and holding yourself accountable for quality medicine and client service.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
- Dependable, flexible, and able to anticipate needs in a busy Surgery service.
- Commitment to maintaining a positive, respectful, and supportive hospital culture.
- Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.
