Field Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III - Field Service)

As a Field Diesel Mechanic you’ll use your skills to perform maintenance and repairs on complex equipment in a safe and professional manner. Every day you can improve and challenge yourself, and with ambition you can progress toward higher levels of Service Technician and leadership roles in our Service Department. You will provide exceptional customer service to our customers.

• Safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex rental equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems.
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer‑owned equipment; maintain a clean and professional service vehicle.
• Assist in the training of lower‑level technicians as needed.
• Maintain paperwork and electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis.
• Assist with pick‑up and delivery of equipment and parts.
• Perform other duties assigned as needed.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• 3–5 years of experience repairing or maintaining equipment and tools.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
• Strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines.
• Must own tools applicable to the position.
• Superior customer service, teamwork, and verbal/written communication skills.
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

This position is governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Rate of pay and benefits will be determined by the agreement in place. The position is deemed Safety Sensitive for the purposes of United Rentals’ policies and procedures.

Compensation Range: $22.00 – $53.00 per hour.
