Brief Overview
At the front line of the Safelite experience, the Auto Glass Technician is an entrepreneurial, hands‑on professional that leverages their Safelite training, industry‑leading tools and technology to complete repairs, replacements and recalibrations in the shop and on the go with our Mobile Glass Shop offerings.
Responsibilities- Provide all vehicle glass repair and replacement services at a Safelite Shop or Mobile Glass Shop efficiently, focusing on safety, quality and exceptional customer service.
- Clean customer vehicles after every job.
- Recalibrate automotive safety systems, troubleshoot and complete diagnostic testing.
- Operate Safelite tools and technologies, including True Seal, Ezi‑Wire, Glass Table System, and handheld Mobile Resource Management.
- Safely operate company and customer vehicles throughout the workday.
- Communicate with scheduled customers in‑person, via text and on the phone; present, promote and sell Safelite promotional items and services.
- Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Valid state‑issued driver’s license to operate a company vehicle.
- Safelite Safe Tech certification.
High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent. GED is Preferred.
RequiredSkills and Abilities
- Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, work in tight spaces, bend and twist body.
- Ability to use a variety of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle in accordance with all federal, state and local laws.
- Ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions and extreme temperatures.
- Ability to work with chemicals, including flammable chemicals, as applicable.
- Ability to work scheduled days with flexibility on start and end times.
- Proficiency in using computerized diagnostic tools for recalibrations and troubleshooting.
- Problem‑solving ability, independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to read, write and interpret the English language and technical directions.
- Ability to communicate orally and written via electronic means.
- Ability to maintain a professional appearance, adhering to uniform and PPE policies.
- Willingness and ability to maintain stable performance under pressure.
- Earn $5 per set of wiper blades added for customer safety.
- Technician career levels based on performance metrics.
