Position Description

Ryder is hiring a Master Level Diesel Technician in Williston, Vermont — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about.

Pay & Bonuses
  • Hourly pay: $41.00 per hour
  • Certification bonus of $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained, up to $700
  • Quarterly bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
  • Sign on bonus: $2500 at 30 days and $2500 at 90 days
  • Schedule:

    Monday–Friday, weekends off
  • Hours:

    First shift 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree, or technical certifications, preferred
  • Basic tools, required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventative maintenance, diagnostics and repairs, advanced repairs
  • Four (4) years or more relevant work experience, preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A, preferred
  • All other certification as required by location, required
  • Ability to perform all T3 tasks
  • Demonstrated advanced analytical and repair skills in vehicle maintenance
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse, etc.)
  • Can lift up to 50 pounds
  • Availability for shift work, weekends and on‑call duty as required
  • Preferred ASE Certification in PM, Brakes, A/C, electrical, electronics or ASE Master Mechanic
  • Proficient in operating shop computers and diagnostic test equipment
  • Minimum tool requirement
  • Able to road test vehicles as necessary
  • Ability to coach/mentor/influence others
  • Must obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
  • Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background & motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
Responsibilities
  • SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT
    220)
  • Complete all OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses required by location fleet mix within 365 days
  • Complete instructor‑led OEM courses as required to support location fleet mix
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance, complex repairs with minimal support
  • Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers and software
  • Perform remote triage with RCRC and customers to determine best solution for roadside breakdowns
  • Perform facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
  • Instruct and advise other technicians on maintenance repair procedures and diagnostics
  • Coach and mentor other level technicians
  • Advise shop management and other technicians on shop repairs
  • Use key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
  • Work in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
  • Other support duties as needed to support operations (e.g., Service Island support)
