Position Description
Ryder is hiring a Master Level Diesel Technician in Williston, Vermont — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about.
Pay & Bonuses- Hourly pay: $41.00 per hour
- Certification bonus of $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained, up to $700
- Quarterly bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
- Sign on bonus: $2500 at 30 days and $2500 at 90 days
- Schedule:
Monday–Friday, weekends off - Hours:
First shift 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree, or technical certifications, preferred
- Basic tools, required
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventative maintenance, diagnostics and repairs, advanced repairs
- Four (4) years or more relevant work experience, preferred
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A, preferred
- All other certification as required by location, required
- Ability to perform all T3 tasks
- Demonstrated advanced analytical and repair skills in vehicle maintenance
- Effective interpersonal communication skills
- Basic computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse, etc.)
- Can lift up to 50 pounds
- Availability for shift work, weekends and on‑call duty as required
- Preferred ASE Certification in PM, Brakes, A/C, electrical, electronics or ASE Master Mechanic
- Proficient in operating shop computers and diagnostic test equipment
- Minimum tool requirement
- Able to road test vehicles as necessary
- Ability to coach/mentor/influence others
- Must obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background & motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
- SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT
220) - Complete all OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses required by location fleet mix within 365 days
- Complete instructor‑led OEM courses as required to support location fleet mix
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance, complex repairs with minimal support
- Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers and software
- Perform remote triage with RCRC and customers to determine best solution for roadside breakdowns
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
- Instruct and advise other technicians on maintenance repair procedures and diagnostics
- Coach and mentor other level technicians
- Advise shop management and other technicians on shop repairs
- Use key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
- Work in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
- Other support duties as needed to support operations (e.g., Service Island support)
