Position Description
Permanent Full Time Master Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Williston, Vermont.
Compensation and Benefits- Hourly Pay: $39.00 per hour
- Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification, up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 quarterly (four times per year)
- Sign On Bonus: $1,750 at 30 days and $1,750 at 90 days
- Schedule:
Monday–Friday, weekends off - Hours:
2nd shift 11:30am–8:00pm - Annual Merit Pay Increases

- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Vocational or Technical Certification / Post-Secondary degree (preferred)
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
- Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems (required)
- Three (3) years or more relevant work experience (preferred)
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
- All other certifications required by location (required)
- Minimum 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment
- Knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
- Must obtain CDL within 6 months of hire
- Pass Ryder Drug Test, DOT Physical, Ryder Road Test, and Background/Motor Vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification)
- Performs standard and preventive vehicle maintenance
- Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer when applicable
- Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision
- Replaces defective components as instructed
- Works unsupervised on most tasks
- Performs facility maintenance duties
- Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint
- Uses key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation
- Works in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines
- Mentors Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
- Accesses and uses internal and external maintenance documents
- Support duties as required, including service island support
- Completes SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT
220) - Completes 2 of the OEM On‑Line diagnostic scan tool courses within 365 days
