Master Level Diesel Mechanic

Position Description

Permanent Full Time Master Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Williston, Vermont.

• Hourly Pay: $39.00 per hour
• Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification, up to $700
• Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 quarterly (four times per year)
• Sign On Bonus: $1,750 at 30 days and $1,750 at 90 days
• Schedule:
  
  Monday–Friday, weekends off
• Hours:
  
  2nd shift 11:30am–8:00pm

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Vocational or Technical Certification / Post-Secondary degree (preferred)
• Basic tools required
• Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
• Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems (required)
• Three (3) years or more relevant work experience (preferred)
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
• All other certifications required by location (required)
• Minimum 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment
• Knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
• Must obtain CDL within 6 months of hire
• Pass Ryder Drug Test, DOT Physical, Ryder Road Test, and Background/Motor Vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification)

• Performs standard and preventive vehicle maintenance
• Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer when applicable
• Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision
• Replaces defective components as instructed
• Works unsupervised on most tasks
• Performs facility maintenance duties
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint
• Uses key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation
• Works in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines
• Mentors Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
• Accesses and uses internal and external maintenance documents
• Support duties as required, including service island support
• Completes SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT
  220)
• Completes 2 of the OEM On‑Line diagnostic scan tool courses within 365 days
