Overview
As a Senior Software Engineer at Micro Strain you will be responsible for developing, evaluating, and supporting desktop software products for our line of inertial sensing devices, including IMUs and GNSS/INS systems. The role involves shaping the future of our inertial desktop tooling, maintaining the existing Sensor Connect desktop application, and working within a small, collaborative team that spans technologies such as embedded C++ SDKs, CMake-based desktop applications, and ROS drivers.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain desktop software for inertial sensing devices.
- Shape architecture and guide next‑generation tooling.
- Support and extend the existing Sensor Connect desktop application.
- Engage with technologies including C++, CMake, ROS, and related build systems.
- Make architectural decisions in ambiguous, research‑oriented contexts.
- Perform code reviews, test integration, and version control.
- Bachelor's Degree in Software, Computer, or related engineering field.
- 5+ years of experience in software development, test, and integration.
- Strong proficiency in C++ software development.
- Demonstrated proficiency with CMake‑based build systems.
- Experience with version control systems.
- 5–10 years of experience in software development, test, and integration.
- ROS (Robot Operating System) experience.
- Inertial sensors or sensing systems domain knowledge.
- Type Script and/or JavaScript, Python.
- OpenDAQ or similar data acquisition frameworks.
- Scrum/task management applications (e.g. Jira, Confluence).
- Experience maintaining and extending legacy desktop applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Git/Git Hub.
- Entrepreneurial, innovative, and customer‑oriented mindset without departmental or silo thinking.
- Comfortable working on technical, cultural, and interpersonal problems.
- Career aspirations with a desire for progression.
- Project management experience.
The pay range for this position is $95,000 to $120,000 annually plus 10% yearly bonus. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to qualifications, experience, skills, and location.
