Description
The hiring range for this position is $54,537 - $60,996. The full range for this position is $54,537 - $76,292.
The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for providing accounts payable services to the County while supporting the daily operations of the Auditor/Treasurer's Office. This position ensures invoices, payments, and financial records are processed accurately and in compliance with County standards, while also providing customer service to the public, staff, and external agencies. The role may include specialized accounting, customer service, and election-related duties to support departmental needs.
Job Duties
- Provides accounts payable services by processing invoices from receipt through payment, including reviewing, verifying, coding, and approving invoices and bills in accordance with County policies and procedures.
- Monitors and processes expenses and payments by preparing and verifying payment requests or vouchers, addressing discrepancies, and ensuring timely and accurate payment of obligations.
- Verifies property taxes paid for property transfers and mortgage recordings and performs related accounting duties as assigned.
- Enters data into, maintains, verifies, reviews, and updates accounting records, databases, and automated financial systems, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with recordkeeping requirements.
- Communicates with internal departments, vendors, and external agencies to resolve payment-related issues, clarify financial information, and verify documentation.
- Provides customer service and general office support by responding to inquiries from the public, County staff, vendors, and other agencies in person, by phone, or via email regarding financial, tax, or general office matters.
- Works with the public at the front counter regarding voting procedures and the receipt of property tax payments.
- Performs election-related duties, including assisting voters and election members, supporting training activities, scheduling preliminary election dates, running, printing, and filing reports and applications, and entering election-related information into applicable systems.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support the Auditor/Treasurer's Office.
- Two-year Accounting degree and/or three (3) or more years of comparable accounting or financial experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

- Accounting principles and practices related to accounts payable and governmental accounting.

- Ability to sit at a desk and perform data entry and administrative tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry files or office supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.
