Overview
The State of Minnesota, Direct Care & Treatment (CABHH Willmar) seeks an Occupational Therapist Senior or Occupational Therapist to join our Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Hospital (CABHH) in Willmar, MN. We provide mental health services for children, adolescents, and young adults (ages 6-18) with serious behavioral and emotional conditions. The role involves delivering occupational therapy services as part of a multidisciplinary team and supporting recovery and relapse prevention.

- Collaborate with the rehabilitation director and CABHH occupational therapists to provide evidence-based, innovative occupational therapy services.
- Plan and implement interventions based on assessments, goals, best practices, and clinical reasoning; include modalities such as music, drumming, yoga, art, sensory strategies, and animal-assisted interventions where appropriate.
- Support staff to adapt environments for individual needs and enhance client engagement in treatment.
- Document all occupational therapy services per policy and procedure.
- Evaluate functional abilities and occupational participation using standardized and non-standardized assessments.
Must be licensed to practice occupational therapy in Minnesota or be eligible to obtain Minnesota licensure prior to appointment. You must also satisfy one of the following education and experience combinations:
- Occupational Therapist:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. - Occupational Therapist Senior:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program and at least 18 months of professional, post-licensure OT experience; OR Master’s degree in OT with at least 6 months of professional, post-licensure OT experience; OR Doctorate in OT from an accredited program.
- Experience working with children and adolescents in inpatient or residential mental health settings.
- Advanced training or certification in sensory processing, trauma-informed care, or modalities such as Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics, yoga, music, or art-based interventions.
- Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design and adapt therapeutic environments for complex behavioral needs.
- Resume should clearly describe experience with beginning and ending months/years for each job.
- Reference/background checks and education verification are required prior to appointment.
- TB testing (blood test) is required prior to employment; TB skin testing is not accepted.
