Job Coaches assist individuals with cognitive/intellectual disabilities or related conditions in obtaining employment, teaching them their job duties, and providing ongoing coaching while they work. Coaches also help participants increase and develop skills through volunteer work and community activities. Implementation of services occurs both in the community and at the program site. The coach acts as a liaison between local employers and program participants and assists the program in meeting Department of Labor, MN State licensing, and CARF standards.

Responsibilities
  • Teach and coach program participants’ job and independent living skills, and provide ongoing job support.
  • Act as a liaison between businesses for program and community‑based opportunities for participants.
  • Document supported persons’ activities, progress, and care by recording, summarizing, and maintaining data in standard forms and reports.
  • Participate in daily operations of the site to meet licensure, legal, and accreditation requirements and adhere to established CBS/MSOCS policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Current and valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to read, understand, and write sample reports; perform basic arithmetic and interpret charts and graphs.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Clear communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Experience implementing training/employment programs for individuals with cognitive/intellectual disabilities, mental illness, chemical dependency, physical disability, brain injury, and/or displaced workers.
