Human Resources Specialist

This position provides professional level human resources services to managers, supervisors, and employees located in MnDOT’s district
8. This position serves as a resource in the areas of labor contract administration, staffing/recruitment, selection, classification, and compensation and ensures all employment laws, rules, regulations and collective bargaining agreements are upheld. The position requires analytical and problem‑solving ability (judgment/decision‑making) sufficient to evaluate complex information, research answers to problems and/or concerns and make decisions and/or recommendations within acceptable time frames.

One (1) year of professional level experience in human resources demonstrates all requirements listed below.

Two (2) years of paraprofessional/technical experience in human resources or a related field demonstrating all requirements listed below.

Please note:

A bachelor's or master’s degree in human resources, Industrial Relations, Organizational Development or a closely related field substitutes for one (1) year of professional experience.

• Experience researching, analyzing, and interpreting information.
• Experience creating written documents such as reports or presentations.
• Experience using databases to update, track and retrieve information.
• Experience communicating information to others verbally and in writing.
• Experience managing hiring and selection processes.
