Bethesda Hospice | Willmar, MN

As an On-Call Hospice Registered Nurse, you'll bring skilled, compassionate nursing care to hospice clients and their families during evenings, overnights, and weekend hours when clients and caregivers most need a steady, knowledgeable presence. You'll deliver hands-on clinical care, respond to urgent client needs, and support families as they navigate end-of-life care, all while helping every client approach this stage of life with comfort and dignity.

You'll join a team of on-call hospice RNs who share coverage on a rotating basis.

Schedule:

7 days on / 7 days off rotation. On-call hours: 4:30 p.m.–8:00 a.m. daily. If all positions are filled, this role will be on call one week out of every six.

$38.87 $ 48.33 / hour, based on experience. Daily Per Diem $50.00. If any calls require an in-person visit, you will receive a minimum of 1.5 hours' pay. Mileage reimbursement at the federal rate for round-trip travel. Pay-On-Demand Options.

Provide Direct Client Care

  • Deliver skilled hospice nursing care in clients' place of residence, including symptom management, medication administration, and comfort-focused interventions.
  • Assess and monitor client condition, responding promptly to changes and communicating with the physician and interdisciplinary team as needed.
  • Educate, support, and counsel clients and family caregivers on hospice care needs, symptom management, and what to expect.

Maintain Accurate Client Records

  • Document all care provided accurately and promptly using Bethesda's EMR system.
  • Complete documentation in compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation and hospice regulatory requirements.

Ensure Regulatory Compliance and Quality Care

  • Deliver nursing care consistent with hospice nursing standards, state and federal regulations, and Bethesda policies.
  • Maintain the highest standard of quality care, compassion, and fiscal responsibility within the Hospice division.

Communicate Effectively and Collaboratively

  • Maintain clear, compassionate communication with clients, families, physicians, and the interdisciplinary hospice team.
  • Provide thorough hand-off communication to the oncoming care team and Home Health & Hospice Director as needed.

Other Duties as Assigned

  • Participate in team meetings, ongoing training, and special projects as needed to ensure client needs are met. Duties listed are representative of the role and not necessarily all-inclusive.

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Minnesota, in good standing.
  • Valid Minnesota driver's license.
  • Ability to pass a state-mandated background check.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently to communicate with clients, families, and team members.
  • Physical capability to perform job duties, including driving to client homes and providing hands-on care.

Additional Details

  • Must complete additional Hospice Specific Edu Care and training on Bethesda Hospice procedures upon hire and annually. Approximately 4-6 hours.
