Position: FULL-TIME DRIVER TRAINER - WILLMAR, MN

LOCATION: Willmar, MN

STARTING WAGE RANGE: $69,000.00 - $80,000.00 Annually (depending upon experience)

JOB TYPE: Full Time

SCHEDULE: Shift 8:00 AM to 5:00 AM, typically Monday through Friday

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Driver Trainer in this position will primarily focus on providing quality training to newly hired licensed Commercial Drivers, Drivers as they earn their CDL, Drivers as they advance their CDL; as well as continuing education and required retraining following federal, state, Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and West Central Sanitation (WCS) safety compliance guidelines. Responsibilities can include managing Driver/laborer training and performance, maintaining schedules, and managing daily route tasks for new employees and established Drivers with additional training requirements.

The Driver Trainer may assist in leading operations and supervising day-to-day collection activities in one or more lines of business (rear load, front load, commercial, residential, industrial roll-off, semi and/or container delivery and pick-up) in a geographically dispersed area. They may also observe work environments for compliance with all safety guidelines, suggest best practices for productivity and propose resolutions for any route issues.

Our Trainer must be an example of West Central Sanitation’s “Good Neighbor” service and standards to WCS co-workers as well as to the public, industry partners and WCS customers. Most importantly, our Trainer keeps Drivers and customers happy! They are the backbone of our operation and motivate our team to grow and succeed. Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Must successfully complete and pass applicable pre-employment background check, driving record review, and drug screening
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements and demands of the position
  • Must reliably commute to the designated work location
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 18 months or more of relevant work experience in transportation, driving or logistics is preferred
  • 5 years of management experience supervising 10+ employees in labor or commercial driving is preferred
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered adequate
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
  • Ability to absorb, present and relay provided information and processes that facilitate engaged learning
  • Ability to instruct and communicate clearly, verbally and in writing
  • Ability to definitively communicate objectives, monitor training progress, and evaluate achievement
  • Focus on safety, especially when teaching and training others
