Willoughby Hills Grocery Outlet is looking for a dependable and experienced Produce Lead to oversee the daily operation of our produce department.
The ideal candidate will take ownership of the department and maintain high standards for freshness, cleanliness, organization, and product presentation.
Previous produce department experience is required for this position.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked produce department
- Inspect products regularly for freshness and quality
- Properly rotate products and remove damaged or expired merchandise
- Complete markdowns and manage shrink
- Receive, inspect, and properly store incoming produce deliveries
- Build attractive displays and keep tables, racks, and coolers full
- Monitor inventory and communicate ordering and product needs
- Maintain accurate pricing and signage
- Follow all food-safety, sanitation, and company procedures
- Assist customers with product questions and requests
- Train and guide employees working in the produce department
- Complete department tasks without constant supervision
- Assist in other areas of the store when needed
- Previous produce department experience is required
- Previous leadership or department-lead experience is strongly preferred
- Knowledge of produce freshness, rotation, storage, and handling
- Dependable attendance and reliable transportation
- Strong attention to detail and product quality
- Ability to work independently and prioritize daily tasks
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Friendly, professional, and customer-focused attitude
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and regularly bend, reach, stand, and walk
- Availability to work mornings, weekends, and some holidays as needed
We are looking for someone who will treat the produce department as their own. The right candidate will notice what needs to be done, take action without waiting to be told, and maintain strong standards for freshness, cleanliness, inventory, and presentation.
