Lakeland Community College is seeking a full-time Director for Community and Adult Education. Working under the direction of the Executive Director of Workforce Development and Employer Relations, the Director is primarily responsible for program development, community engagement, staff and instructor management, budget oversight, and continuous program improvement for courses offered.

Responsibilities (Non-inclusive)
  • Develop, plan, coordinate, and administer educational, recreational, enrichment, and community programs and events.
  • Identify emerging community needs and opportunities and develop new programs to meet those needs.
  • Oversee the development and publication of the View Book at least twice annually, working collaboratively with college departments and stakeholders.
  • Manage program registration processes using ACEware, in collaboration with the College's Information Technology department.
  • Recruit, hire, orient, train, schedule, mentor, and evaluate part-time staff, instructors, and program personnel in accordance with College policies and procedures, as needed.
  • Establish and maintain regular staff meetings to support communication, professional development, program evaluation, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and manage the department budget and monitor expenditures to ensure responsible and effective use of resources.
  • Recommend purchases of instructional materials, equipment, supplies, and other resources necessary to support programming.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with college administration, faculty, staff, students, the Board of Trustees, community organizations, businesses, schools, and other external partners.
  • Promote Community and Adult Education programs through community outreach, partnerships, marketing, and other appropriate communication channels.
  • Monitor enrollment, revenue, program participation, customer satisfaction, and other performance indicators to evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Ensure programs operate in accordance with college policies, procedures, applicable regulations, and established standards.
  • Identify opportunities to expand programming, increase community participation, and generate revenue through innovative educational and recreational offerings.
  • Represent Lakeland Community College at community events and meetings and serve as an ambassador for Community and Adult education.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education/Training and Experience Required/Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Demonstrated experience in program development, administration, education, recreation, community programming, workforce development, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple programs, projects, deadlines, and priorities effectively.
  • Experience working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective community and professional relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Adult Learning, Recreation Management, or a related discipline.
  • Current, valid professional credentials or certifications relevant to adult education, recreation, or related programming.
  • Experience working in a higher education, community education, continuing education, or workforce development.
  • Experience with program registration systems.
  • Experience with marketing, community outreach, and partnership development.
