The Intake Assessor handles the Assessment and Referral activities at the facility. This position interfaces closely with the medical staff, fellow department members and administration, treatment team/external case managers/managed care organizations. It takes passion and dedication to meet the behavioral health needs of our community. Windsor Laurelwood Center for Behavioral Medicine, located in Willoughby, Ohio, has provided high-quality behavioral health and substance abuse treatment services to adults, adolescents, and children for over 100 years.

Interface with the medical staff, department members, administration, treatment team, external case managers, and managed care organizations to coordinate patient assessment and referral activities. Facilitate clinical interviews, patient assessment, family treatment, and treatment planning. Communicate with external review organizations and other entities to ensure continuity of care. Prioritize responsibilities and maintain professional demeanor and appearance at all times.
QualificationsEducation: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, mental health or a related field, or licensed RN.
Experience: A minimum of two (2) years direct clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting. Working knowledge of the mental health field and experience in clinical interviewing, patient assessment, family treatment, treatment planning, communication with external review organizations, and working effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.
Work Environment: Clean, well-lit environment. Intake coordinators may sit or stand for long periods of time in a high‑stress, active work environment with continuous low‑volume voices and office machine noises.
Additional Requirements: Trained in Non‑violent Physical Crisis Intervention and CPR prior to accepting independent assignment or released from orientation. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, diplomacy, discretion, and the ability to prioritize responsibilities.
