Machine Operator, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Position Summary
At this level the associate is able to perform duties per standard work including process changeovers and troubleshooting with guidance or help from a trainer or support. They are able to recognize and solve some non-routine problems.
Shift: 24/7 Days (6A-6P)
Facility:
Willoughby Hills, Ohio
- Complete set-up and operation of machining equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Perform start-stop procedures including machine and conveyor start-up, loading of raw material, and machine shutdown.
- Perform simple and advanced changes, adjustments, and set-up to tooling and fixtures.
- Complete records and forms.
- Check machined parts visually and dimensionally according to quality standards.
- Clean chips from tooling and parts.
- Recognize and report machine malfunctions and part discrepancies to supervisor.
- Preset tooling as required.
- Set-up parts, process and machine as required.
- Perform daily, semi-annual and annual machine maintenance.
- Correct problems in set-up, non-conformance, tooling and machining processes.
- Make suggestions for process changes that may improve machining operations.
- Maneuver around machine, including but may not be limited to standing, bending, stretching and walking.
- Repair, replace and/or modify equipment if required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 30 months of applicable machining experience.
- Qualified as a Level 2 Machine Operator.
- Advanced knowledge about metal or plastic cutting processes and equipment.
- Self‑motivated and able to learn at a fast pace.
- Demonstrates proficient machining, communication, and troubleshooting.
- Operates machine equipment including loading and unloading parts, inspection gauges, comparators, micrometers, calipers, 6” rule, dial indicator, ring gauges, drill/reamer, Johnson gauges and datum gauges, magnifier and lights, miscellaneous hand tools and chip strippers.
- Identifies and corrects machining problems relative to tools and tool holders, collets and chucks.

Direct and assist others in getting required support work completed in a timely manner, independently display prioritization skills, understand and anticipate internal customers’ needs and initiate action to meet them. - Reliability and Integrity:

Encourage team morale, facilitate root cause analysis, facilitate shift start‑up and departmental meetings, promote group reputation, coordinate resources to achieve quality goals. - Communication:
Communicate well with all levels, promote own ideas, drill‑down to root cause, use appropriate escalation channels, voice for quality with explanations, receive input from others. - Accountability:
Drive team goals, own actions, coordinate and execute without supervision, manage emotions, provide detailed documentation, give feedback to supervisors.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform essential job functions consistently with ADA, FMLA and other standards, meeting productivity standards.
- Maintain regular, punctual attendance.
- May be required to pass pre‑employment and annual Vision Acuity tests.
- Must lift between 25‑35 pounds regularly and occasionally 35‑50 pounds; considerable standing, stooping and bending required.
