Step into the Second Shift and Shape Precision When the floor quiets down and the work lights click on, you take charge. As our 2nd Shift CNC Milling Specialist, you’ll own complex setups and production runs on Makino and other mills, turning prints into flawless parts measured in thousandths. Your craftsmanship keeps our promises to customers.
A day in your shift
Set up and run CNC milling centers (Makino, Haas, Fanuc-controlled equipment) for milling, drilling, and tapping operations.
Decode blueprints and apply GD&T to hit exact tolerances and finishes.
Choose tooling and dial in speeds/feeds to achieve dimensional and surface targets.
Measure precisely with calipers, micrometers, and gauges; verify every critical feature.
Monitor and adjust programs and offsets to keep quality and throughput on track.
Inspect in-process and final parts; resolve any deviations immediately.
Document machine settings, output, and quality results for traceability.
Troubleshoot tool wear, machine issues, and programming errors without missing a beat.
Improve processes to boost efficiency and reduce scrap across the shift.
Keep it safe and orderly: follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized cell.
Operate Makino CNC Milling Machines regularly as part of your workload.
What you bring
Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of a formal machining apprenticeship or equivalent training.
Experience3+ years as a CNC Mill Machinist.
Hands-on experience with Fanuc and Haas controls.
Background running Makino CNC milling machines.
Skills Proficient in CNC milling methods and best practices.
Expert blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation.
Precision measurement expertise.
Tooling selection and application mastery.
Independent setup-to-production capability.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving.
Clear communication and a team-first mindset.
PreferredCNC milling programming experience.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
Physical demands & work environment
Stand for extended periods.
Lift up to 50 pounds.
Strong manual dexterity and hand–eye coordination.
Manufacturing environment with noise, dust, and active machinery.
