Powder Manufacturing Operator

Join Fusion Inc. as a Powder Manufacturing Operator and make the filler metal that starts every Fusion soldering and brazing paste. You will be responsible for the manufacture, processing, blending and inventory control of all filler metals used throughout the manufacturing process of our soldering and brazing pastes. This is hands-on foundry-style work for someone who likes precision, takes pride in their work, and wants to see a clear line from the melt they ran to the paste that leaves our facility.

You will spend the day on your feet around melt and atomizing equipment, powder screening and blending, and staged inventory. The work involves lifting and moving materials with proper equipment, wearing company-provided PPE, and following HSE procedures designed to keep you and the product safe.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Melt/Atomizing
  • Weigh alloy melt charges to the charge calculation sheet
  • Load charges to melt platform
  • Set up atomizing furnaces and tank per work order
  • Melt and atomize alloys to process and work-order specs
  • Record atomizing parameters for each run
  • Unload and screen atomized powder per the work order
  • Complete powder and remelt receipts against the work order
  • Powder Inventory Control
  • Weigh, screen, and blend powder charges for paste manufacturing per work orders and blend sheets
  • Stage charges in the correct containers and label with material, blend, and work-order information
  • Store and preserve powders to protect inventory accuracy and product quality
  • Complete work-order and inventory transactions to keep system counts accurate
  • Receive alloys and raw materials
  • Housekeeping, equipment and Quality
  • Keep the work area clean and organized so materials stay accessible, stored correctly, and free from mix-ups or cross-contamination
  • Keep equipment in working order and assist with maintenance as needed
  • Complete housekeeping and 5S duties in the powder room and surrounding area
  • Follow all HSE policies, with safety a safety-first mindset.
  • Wear and maintain required PPE
  • Support efforts to improve quality, manufacturing practices, and plant efficiency
  • Follow all Fusion quality policies and related procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Essential Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Manufacturing experience; 1–2 years in a foundry-type environment preferred
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Basic computer skills, strong math, legible handwriting, and clear verbal communication
  • Ability to wear air-purifying respirators and all other required PPE
  • Ability to work in small, enclosed areas when needed
  • Reliable team member who will keep the area clean, organized, and safe.

Why Join Fusion Inc:

Family-owned since 1933 and still headquartered in Willoughby, Fusion remains a leader in brazing and soldering automation. Several hundred paste varieties are manufactured at our Plant 2 facility and powder operations is where that product stream begins. You'll join a close-knit plant team — not a faceless production line — and you can see the path from the melt you ran to the paste that leaves the building.

Benefits:

  • Medical, dental, prescription, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) with company match and discretionary profit-sharing.
  • Company-paid life and AD&D insurance.
  • Company-paid short-term and long-term disability.
  • Paid vacation and sick days, holidays, bereavement leave, and jury duty.
  • Discretionary company bonus programs.
