Your RoleAs an entry‑level Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician, you’ll help keep our fleet of heavy equipment operating safely and efficiently. You’ll gain hands‑on experience diagnosing and repairing diesel and gas‑powered equipment, learn preventative maintenance best practices, and support jobsite and shop operations.
With training, mentorship, and exposure to a wide variety of equipment, you’ll develop the technical skills needed to grow your career—starting with routine maintenance and troubleshooting and progressing into more advanced repairs over time.
Typical Responsibilities- Assisting with diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, and trucks.
- Performing preventative maintenance to help minimize downtime.
- Working with hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Reading service manuals and using diagnostic tools under guidance.
- Accurately documenting service work and repairs.
- Collaborating closely with experienced technicians, shop foremen, and field teams.
- Following safety procedures and maintaining a clean, organized work environment.
- Entry‑level experience or hands‑on exposure to heavy equipment, diesel mechanics, or automotive repair.
- Willingness to learn and grow technical skills on the job.
- Basic understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical systems (formal training preferred, not required).
- Ability to read technical manuals and follow instructions.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift equipment and work in a shop/outdoor environment.
