Loyola Academy is currently seeking an Assistant Softball Coach for the 2026 season, beginning February 23, 2026. The Assistant Softball Coach shall have the primary responsibilities to mentor, coach and develop high school athletes. In collaboration with key stakeholders, the softball coach will foster a team environment amongst the athletic community at Loyola.
Job Requirements / Essential Functions- Emphasize the values of leadership, sportsmanship and goodness, values that lie at the core of the athletic program here at Loyola Academy.
- The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that logically relate to the position.
- Have previous successful club, high school or college coaching experience. Organized, hard‑working and demonstrates a strong desire to develop young players. The coach will be focused on player development, implementing practice plans and other necessary functions of the program.
- Ability to coach athletes of varying abilities and assist them in developing the fundamental skills necessary to be a successful and competitive high school baseball player.
- Travel with the team on the bus to away contests.
- Attention to detail and adaptability to a changing environment is extremely important as well as dependability.
- Demonstrated ability to engage others in difficult conversations and manage conflict.
- Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of information, protect the assets of the institution, act ethically and with integrity, adhere to the administrative and operational policies of Loyola Academy and perform the duties of your position consistent with those policies and the institution’s expectations.
- Commitment to the principles of Jesuit education as outlined in Loyola Academy’s mission statement.
- Moderate physical activity. Requires handling equipment of average weight up to fifty (50) pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

- The position requires a bachelor degree, one to three (1-3) plus years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- All coaches will be required to complete ASEP or NFHS certificate and keep up with IHSA compliance requirements.
- Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours, ability to maintain a flexible work schedule that may include working nights and weekends.
- Pre‑Employment screening is required.
