We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of accounting experience in a private-sector environment and a strong foundation in general ledger accounting and financial close processes. This role is responsible for supporting the month-end and year-end close, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with internal accounting policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis
- Assist with preparation and execution of month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all deadlines are met
- Prepare and post recurring and non-recurring journal entries with proper supporting documentation
- Perform detailed account reconciliations and investigate/resolve variances in a timely manner
- Support preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting packages
- Analyze financial data and provide explanations for fluctuations, trends, and variances
- Assist with accruals, prepaids, amortizations, and expense allocations
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed to ensure accurate posting and reconciliation
- Assist with fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation schedules, and asset disposals
- Maintain supporting schedules for balance sheet accounts and ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes by providing historical data, schedules, and analysis
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, responding to inquiries, and ensuring documentation completeness
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of accounting operations
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, GAAP standards, and company accounting policies
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, finance, and other departments to resolve accounting issues and improve reporting accuracy
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting REQUIRED
- 3+ years of accounting experience in a private-sector environment
- Strong hands-on experience with general ledger accounting
- Solid understanding of month-end and year-end close processes
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis, etc.)
- Experience with accounting systems such as Sage or Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
