A growing and well-established real estate development, investment, and property management organization is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join its accounting team in Wilmington, DE. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career accounting professionals and recent graduates looking to gain hands-on experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, job costing, and real estate accounting while working closely with multiple departments across the organization.
This role offers exposure to development projects, property operations, and accounting functions, providing strong career growth potential for individuals looking to build a long-term career in accounting and finance.
Responsibilities- Process vendor invoices through invoice management and approval systems
- Enter invoices into accounting software and allocate costs appropriately to projects and properties
- Assist with weekly and monthly check runs
- Support utility payment processing and related tracking activities
- Maintain residential utility and expense trackers
- Assist with processing rent and security deposit payments
- Prepare lien waivers for contractor invoices and project-related payments
- Support bank reconciliations and other accounting functions as needed
- Communicate with vendors, property operations teams, and project managers regarding invoice and payment inquiries
- Participate in special projects and other accounting duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- Recent graduates with accounting internship experience are encouraged to apply
- 0–2+ years of accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or bookkeeping experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong time management and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors
- Exposure to accounts payable processing
- Experience with ERP or accounting systems through work, internships, or coursework
- Familiarity with bank reconciliations, invoice processing, or general accounting principles
- Real estate, construction, or property management experience is a plus, but not required
- Exposure to real estate development, property management, and corporate accounting operations
