The Staff Accountant will support a Business Unit or functional area by recording and reporting financial transactions, performing account reconciliations, supporting the monthly close, and ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements. This role also partners with FP&A and other business functions on financial analysis, budgeting, reporting, internal controls, and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities- Support the monthly financial statement close process, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
- Analyze financial statements, account activity, and variances; identify trends and potential issues.
- Prepare, review, and analyze account reconciliations while ensuring compliance with SOX control requirements.
- Prepare monthly reporting packages, including analysis of current results compared with prior periods.
- Assist with accounting, analysis, and budgeting activities in partnership with FP&A.
- Work closely with operating units and cross-functional teams to resolve accounting and reporting questions.
- Partner with internal and external auditors and provide requested documentation and support.
- Assist with special projects and the implementation of changes to FASB/GAAP accounting standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen internal controls, and increase efficiency.
- Support regulatory compliance and business planning through financial analysis and reporting.
- Prepare accurate and well-documented work papers, disclosures, and accounting memorandums as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
- 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, FASB/GAAP, and SOX compliance.
- Ability to prepare and maintain detailed work papers, disclosures, and accounting documentation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to use technology to improve accounting and reporting processes.
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with accounting, finance, and operational teams.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and integrity.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated initiative, professionalism, and sound judgment.
- Work with limited supervision while exercising independent judgment and initiative.
- Collaborate across accounting, FP&A, and operational teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Participate in departmental planning and special projects.
