Manager - Global Commodity Management

Overview

Position focusing on organizing, conducting and leading price negotiations with key suppliers, providing cost reduction projections, and representing the GCM group in monthly PPV/NMI reviews. Responsibilities include supplier negotiations, BOM and cost optimization, program reviews, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to align with supply chain strategy.

Responsibilities
  • To organise, conduct and lead the price negotiations with key suppliers on a regular basis to achieve price reduction.
  • Review RFQ package; pre-meeting with commodity management team leader to lay out negotiation plan, tactics and issues; pre-meeting with suppliers to understand market situation and AE targets.
  • Prepare presentations for each supplier negotiation: business update, scorecard result, and new project incentive.
  • Conduct and lead the pricing negotiation to ensure results meet the overall target; follow up on open issues/actions; report and document negotiation results/issues/actions; publish new pricings and effective dates and drive implementation in each division.
  • Provide cost reduction projection and alternate parts proposals for key projects to ensure cost-effective components aligned with supply chain strategies.
  • Review BOM and propose alternate parts from PSL to avoid single source; source from and develop PML / Best Cost supplier; work on quotation and forward pricing for key items; monitor actualized cost reduction vs projection and take action to close gaps.
  • Represent the GCM group to monitor and report PPV/NMI in monthly reviews with senior management; coordinate within the team to plan and execute actions to achieve forecast PPV; review monthly POR and report issues affecting PPV.
  • Support Commodity Manager and Leader on BU issues such as material expediting, VMI and Incoterms; evaluate escalation requests and escalate to supplier senior management; lead shortage escalation calls and monitor progress.
  • Meet with supplier sales/marketing to get market updates, review product roadmap/technology trends, and design-in for new projects; feed updates to GCM team; ensure AE requirements are covered and aligned with supplier development.
  • Prepare and document the Commodity Strategy and Action Plan (5 Year Commodity Strategy, Executive Summary, Monthly Commodity Outlook and Industry Trend) for AE Procurement guidance.
  • Organise, conduct and lead material program reviews with key project stakeholders; identify critical design requirements and components; justify BOM cost and target cost with Sales and Marketing.
  • Review and clarify BOM and component specifications with Design and Marketing; verify and update findings with Design (DE); identify critical/top spend components; collaborate with DE to obtain updated specifications and drawings.
  • Validate GCM proposals on AML and alternatives for BOM cost optimization; ensure DFM, DFA, DFC considerations; drive PML and PPL penetration; verify multiple sources and alternatives; optimize BOM cost.
  • Consolidate, publish and drive MPM results to project stakeholders and management; justify additional cost savings and design recommendations; review MPM results with GCM management; drive follow-up actions to optimize BOM cost from early design.
  • Collaborate with GCM, CE and DE for engagement with preferred suppliers; arrange supplier technical seminars and meetings; align with GCM and interface with suppliers to drive supply chain strategy in design; coordinate DE and CFG teams to optimize PML/PPL and commodity classification in Ipro.
  • Drive material readiness, smooth product transitions and identify supply chain risk; ensure readiness for NPI builds with GCM and Buyer; mitigate supply chain risks for NPI builds.
