Responsibilities
Provide personal financial services at assigned military installations. Counselor responsibilities include one‑on‑one counseling, briefings, presentations, referral of participants outside counseling sessions, coordination with installation and military branch points of contact, and ensuring program scope and fulfillment of installation needs.
Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and families, help them develop spending plans for extended absences, develop informational materials, coordinate, publicize, and give a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering the military lifecycle (arrival, pre‑and post‑deployment, personal and career events per DoDI 1322.34). Respond to age‑appropriate class requests.
Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication such as web‑based, secure online chat, or video‑based communication.
Manage duty‑to‑warn situations per DoD protocol. Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision, sharing information regarding trends and issues at the installations.
Participate in in‑services/training, quality improvement committees, and other contract activities as assigned. All other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree required, or associate degree plus 4 years’ experience, or high school diploma plus 6 years’ experience.
- 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
- U.S. citizen, fluent in English; bilingual English‑Spanish if required by the contract.
- Admittable to a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
- Pass the Congress‑mandated disclosures for organizational conflicts of interest.
- Must hold at least one of the following certifications:
Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
Salary
:
Minimum $58,440, maximum $93,500, based on national data. Short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package may be available.
