The Edwin L. Granite, D.M.D., Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery & Hospital Dentistry Clinic is located at 501 West 14th Street in Wilmington, Delaware. For more than 60 years, the Department of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery & Hospital Dentistry has provided high quality, low cost dental care to uninsured and underinsured members of the community. Services are delivered by dental residents who have completed dental school and are pursuing an additional year of hospital-based training.
Care is closely supervised by dedicated volunteer community dentists and experienced faculty members.
Dentistry Services | Christiana Care
Clinical services offered include:- Comprehensive restorative dentistry (fillings, crowns, bridges, dentures, partials)
- All phases of implant treatment
- Endodontic services, including root canal and gum therapies
- Pediatric dentistry
The Financial Coordinator serves as a key advocate for patients and families by securing detailed insurance benefits and financial information related to hospital dentistry and oral surgery services. This role partners closely with interdisciplinary team members to obtain required authorizations and prepare accurate documentation, ensuring all services are billed correctly and efficiently.
Work Schedule- Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 4pm
The Financial Coordinator II serves as the primary resource for patients seeking information about insurance coverage, self pay fees, and other financial matters related to hospital dentistry and oral surgery. In this role, the Financial Coordinator II advocates for patients and families, acting as a liaison with insurance companies to gather necessary insurance details, verify benefit eligibility, and secure required preauthorization’s.
The Financial Coordinator II presents approved treatment plan fees to patients, obtains signatures and payments, and ensures all financial documentation is complete and accurate. The Financial Coordinator II researches and documents insurance plans, resolves billing or payment discrepancies by collaborating with patients, billing departments, and insurance carriers, and helps uninsured or underinsured patients identify available financial assistance resources. The Financial Coordinator II maintains comprehensive and up-to-date records of accounts requiring verification, review, or payment, and provides essential information to billing specialists to support accurate and timely claims processing.
Additionally, the Financial Coordinator II facilitates the resolution of patient billing issues, adheres to all departmental safety practices, promptly reports potential hazards, and performs related duties as assigned.

- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate degree in business or healthcare field with coursework in accounting, business and/or health care administration preferred.
- 2-3 years of finance experience required; healthcare setting preferred. Medical, Dental and Oral Surgery experience is a plus.
