Provide essential support to teachers and students in educational settings, assisting with instructional and behavioral needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Teachers:
    Support teachers in lesson preparation, implementation, and classroom management. This includes helping with instructional activities and providing one‑on‑one or small group assistance to students.
  • Monitor Student Behavior:
    Supervise students during lessons and activities, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment. Address behavioral issues as they arise.
  • Provide Instructional Support:
    Help students with reading, writing, math, and other educational activities as directed by the teacher. This may involve leading small group discussions or tutoring sessions.
  • Administrative Duties:
    Perform clerical tasks such as tracking student attendance, grading assignments, and maintaining educational materials and supplies.
  • Support Special Needs Students:
    Work closely with students who have special needs, providing tailored support and assistance as required.
Qualifications

Education:

A high school diploma is typically required; an associate’s degree or coursework in child development or education may be preferred.

Experience:

Previous experience working with children, especially in educational or childcare settings, is advantageous. Familiarity with special education practices is a plus.

Skills:

Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential. Patience, empathy, and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and students are crucial for success in this role.

Work Environment

Paraprofessionals typically work in school settings, including classrooms, special education programs, and after‑school programs. The role may require standing for extended periods and lifting educational materials.
