To provide classroom instruction and support to Adult High School (AHS) students through lecture, demonstration, and laboratory exercises, handouts, responding to questions and testing. Must be familiar with North Carolina Standard Course of Study and hold certification from the National Center for Construction Education and Research or be eligible to obtain certification once hired.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
  • Receives direct supervision and/or technical direction from Adult High School Coordinator
  • Exercises no supervision
ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTION STATEMENT

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Essential Functions
  • Provide classroom and laboratory instruction to students
  • Prepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities
  • Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance grade record individual scores
  • Provide classroom demonstration on various equipment and machinery develop laboratory assignments to provide hands on experience as appropriate
  • Monitor and engage students in assigned activities
  • Maintain classroom order and ensure a safe, respectful learning environment
  • Take attendance and document student participation accurately
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance
  • Maintain and submit all required paperwork in a neat, accurate and timely fashion, including but not limited to class rosters, registration forms, paysheets, and attendance forms
  • Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures related to the required teaching area and in accordance with CFCC policies and guidelines
Other Important Functions
  • Assess the relevancy and impact of various lessons and recommend improvements as needed
  • Oversee and participate in field studies and assignments; travel with students to provide assistance and instruction as appropriate
  • Communicate any concerns or issues to the AHS Coordinator
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of
  • Classroom and laboratory instructional techniques and procedures
  • Principles and procedures of academic and instructional techniques and procedures
  • Current trends, research and development in the area of assignment
  • Respectful communication and engagement strategies with diverse learners
  • Principles and techniques involved in test development and administration

  • Interpret and apply the College's goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully, both orally and in writing
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work

Experience and Training Guidelines

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Minimum Education /Training
  • A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university or equivalent work experience in construction or related trades.
Minimum Experience
  • Experience providing on the job training and supervision.
Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills
  • Background in teaching, corporate training, or construction trades, and/or 3+ years of job-related experience as pertains to the Adult High School Construction course.
